Chris Basista is a lifelong resident, an entrepreneur and small business owner. After graduating from Manville High School, he went on to college at DeVry University, majoring in Network & Communications Management. Chris holds an MBA with a concentration in telecommunications from Keller Graduate School of Management and has a track record of successful business ventures.
Chris is an active member of the Manville Democrats, serving as an elected committeeperson and as Communications Director. He is also an avid volunteer, working with the committee to support the Food Pantry, Back to School Drives, and other community events.
Chris' entrepreneurial spirit is reflected in his diverse business ventures. At the age of fifteen, he started his first online marketing business, which is still in operation today. He also owns an online radio station and an e-commerce business. These ventures not only showcase Chris' business acumen, but also his commitment to fostering a thriving local economy.
In 2024, Chris established Manville.Today, an online news organization that serves as the one-stop resource for news and information about what's happening at Borough Hall with Manville's Mayor and Council.
He developed the idea after witnessing the low turnout of attendees at the monthly Council meetings, but hearing from residents that they wanted to be educated on what was happening in a way that worked for them and their busy schedules.
"I understand the impacts local government has on Manville from the perspective of a resident, homeowner, and small business owner. I am running for Council to make serving my community my priority." Chris' experience and knowledge will serve him and the residents well.
Chris is focused on sustainable development, tax fairness, and fostering a vibrant community. He will focus on transparency and accountability driven by his deep understanding of the economic and social challenges our residents face daily.
With a fresh perspective and a results-driven approach, Chris is poised to bring about positive change and ensure a stronger future for all residents of Manville.
