About Manville Borough Council

What Is a Councilperson?

Melissa Palfy Bellamy & Christine Abood are both running in November's election for Manville Borough Council. There are two (2) seats up for election, which means you can vote for BOTH Melissa & Christine.

Being on Borough Council means that Melissa & Christine will be focused on Manville's issues. They will be working with 4 other Councilmembers and the Mayor.

They will be involved in the business of the Borough, but most importantly, they will be working for the residents of Manville. Here are some of the things that Melissa & Christine will be doing:

  • Listening to residents and responding to everyday concerns, from property maintenance issues to neighborhood safety, making sure community voices are heard in every decision.
  • Working with Borough departments to provide adequate staffing, reliable equipment, and that services meet community needs.
  • Reviewing and approving the Borough budget, keeping spending responsible and protecting taxpayers to ensure their tax dollars are allocated responsibly with fiscal discipline.
  • Hiring and overseeing qualified staff, making sure the Borough is run by professionals with the right experience and commitment to Manville.
  • Setting local policies and ordinances that impact quality of life, business growth, and community development.
  • Supporting emergency response and long‑term planning, especially around flooding, infrastructure, and public safety.
  • Engaging with business owners and community groups to strengthen Manville’s economy and encourage new opportunities.

This is just a small list. The job is not an easy one, and has its challenges. Melissa & Christine are ready for the challenge.
