CHRISBASISTA
I am a lifelong Manville resident and graduate of Manville High School. I earned my Master of Business Administration degree from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2008, with a concentration in Telecommunications Management.
As an only child, I learned very early that when I set my mind to accomplish something, I don't stop until the goal is reached. Even after reaching the goal, I continue to go further. This goes back to my High School years when I started my first business at the age of 15, which is still in operation 24 years later. I started an online consumer loyalty marketing company, when the Internet was still in its early stages. Then in 2008, I started an online Top 40 / EDM radio station called ElectricFM, which quickly became popular worldwide.
While in school, I demonstrated leadership skills early on. I was president of Manville's Robotics Club. Our club placed 7th in our very first competition, and won the Rookie Allstar Award. I placed 3rd in the entire state of NJ for website development with the Future Business Leaders of America club.
Why are these early achievements relevant now? It shows that once I set my mind to reach a goal, I don't stop until it happens. When elected to Manville Borough Council, I will do the exact same thing.
I want what's best for Manville and its residents. During my work with the Manville Democrats, I have had an opportunity to hear from residents about the issues they face, and the problems Manville faces, in particular flooding concerns. I am going to fight to get what Manville deserves. My relationships with our elected officials will serve Manville in making sure those voices are heard.
Manville was once called Somerset County's "Shining Star", and I plan to make us become that shining star once again. There is so much untapped potential in Manville, and I want to see us be successful as a municipality.
As the owner of several businesses, I know how to navigate contract negotiations, how to be fiscally responsible, and how to manage a budget. Management of a town is similar to a business. You have to make sure residents are getting the best value out of their tax dollars, and work to keep costs low. I will bring my 24 years of experience in business management to Borough Council.
In my free time I like to give back and volunteer. I am active working to support the efforts of the Food Pantry, Back to School Drives, and other community events.
With a fresh perspective, and a results-driven approach, I plan to bring a stronger future to Manville and all its residents.
FUNFACTS
Huge Music Fan
I am a big fan of current hit music, and have been since a teenager. I liked music so much, that I started my own online radio station back in 2008. I've met many artists over the years. This is world-renowned DJ & record producer David Guetta.
Early-on Accomplishments
Placed 3rd in the State of NJ for website development at the Future Business Leaders of America event, back in High School. This was a sign of good things to come in my future.
Technology Nerd
I was always interested in technology. I've been building my own computers since a teenager. I love learning how technology works, and try to learn new things all the time. (Candid photo -- wasn't expecting it!)
Spending Time With Family
Family is very important to me. Always spend time with those who are important to you in life. You can always make time for family.
Cat Rescues
I have 3 rescue cats. It's great when you can give an animal a nice forever home.
Random Photos
I like to take random photographs. It's fascinating to look back at them years from now and see how things changed. Here's a photo when Manville Walmart was expanding in 2014.
Voting Since 18..
Once I turned 18, I registered to vote. It's important to me to vote in every election. Every vote matters, and allows your voice to be heard.
